I have always been a stomach sleeper. I'll be getting implants soon. Can I sleep on my breasts/stomach after the augmentation, or will I need to sleep in a different position? If so, what position is best and most comfortable? And will I ever be able to sleep on my stomach/breasts again?
Early postop it is best to avoid sleeping on your stomach as it may be uncomfortable and may cause unwanted implant displacement. Eventually however, by 2-3 weeks or less it should be fine to do so.

I ask patients to start laying on their implants the very first day for 15 min and then every day thereafter for a few weeks. This is part of our rapid recovery protocol which minimizes the amount of narcotics you need and gets you back to work and exercise faster. In fairness, this is not the most comfortable thing at first but does help the muscle relax. Yes in time you'll be able to resume all your activities including sleeping comfortably any way you like.

Initially, your physician may want you to sleep on your back, if possible. This will help to maintain the result while you are healing. Within several weeks you should be allowed to resume normal sleep behavior. To be sure, please consult with your surgeon and follow their recommendations to make sure you don't affect the final result. Good luck!

After six weeks, you can sleep in any position. If you roll over during the first six weeks, it probably won't damage anything. But if you can avoiding lying on your breasts for the first month to six weeks, it is advisable.

Yes, you can sleep on your breasts or stomach. But ask your doctor what his protocol is.

Eventually, you definitely can sleep on your stomach after implant surgery. I would suggest, however, not doing so at least for 8 weeks to let the surgical area heal somewhat. Eight weeks is still very early in the healing period but it should be at least safe by that time to begin slowly sleeping on your stomach again.

Yes. You will be able to sleep on your stomach, but it may be months after surgery, once everything has healed. I ask patients to sleep on their back and after 1-2 weeks, gently can go onto their sides for sleeping.

I recommend sleeping on your back for the first 4 wks, then whichever way you want after that.

Breast implants are very strong. If it doesn't hurt the breast, then the implant will be fine. Check with your surgeon to see when they clear you for sleeping on your stomach.

Absolutely! You will be able to sleep on your stomach. I'm not sure you would be comfortable sleeping on your breasts for the first few weeks, but after the pain resolves and you have healed, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to sleep on you stomach. Be sure to ask your plastic surgeon when he/she recommends that you start sleeping on your belly.
